Construction estimator

We are looking for a construction estimator.

Your roles and responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret plans and specifications (Architecture, Structure, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical)
  • Analyze and interpret reports and studies specific to each project
  • Take measurements of quantities on plans for the different needs
  • Prepare construction budgets for the various projects in collaboration with the Estimating Director
  • Monitoring of financing processes in conjunction with accounting to gather all the documents necessary to start a project
  • Develop and maintain supply schedules in collaboration with project managers
  • Participate in the development of work spaces specific to the different projects and specialties, jointly with the project manager
  • Prepare calls for tender for each of the mandates to be awarded and carry out constant prospecting for new subcontractors in the different specialties
  • Contact the various subcontractors to explain the different mandates and ensure the conformity of the prices received
  • Monitor calls for tender and ensure that award deadlines are met
  • Validate the choice of materials for a project according to the budget in collaboration with the development director
  • Proceed with the purchase of certain materials and ensure management of receptions according to the construction schedule
  • Coordinate storage and deliveries to the construction site in collaboration with the warehouse manager
  • Perform bid analyses and make recommendations in collaboration with the Estimation Director
  • Participate in the negotiation of the various mandates to be granted
  • Keep up to date the evaluation of cost prices of the different specialties
  • Develop relevant statistics for the different projects and develop a scalable basis for the preparation of future budgets
  • Collaborate on the formatting of standard documents for the company
  • Constant monitoring on the construction site to learn about progress and prioritize needs in collaboration with the project manager.
  • Any other related tasks

Do you have these qualifications and abilities?

  • Hold a College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture, estimation or construction or any other relevant training
  • More than 5 years of experience in estimating in multi-story residential 10 stories or more
  • Knowledge of concrete structures a major asset
  • Advanced reading of plans and specifications
  • Excellent command of Office Suite, AutoCad and Procore
  • Very good command of French and English, both spoken and written
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude towards challenges
  • Excellent priority management
