Project director – construction

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations-Construction, the mission of the Project Director is to supervise the project team to facilitate the management of all stages of a construction project, from design to construction, ensuring compliance planning and budgets and ensuring the successful management of the projects assigned to it. He must demonstrate a great deal of autonomy and leadership.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Simultaneously oversee up to 4 construction projects and their teams
  • Coordinate with professionals the issuance of plans according to the different stages of issuance
  • Ensure good cohesion in the teams of the projects assigned to him
  • Distribute workload to project managers, superintendents and project assistants
  • Make connections between the different departments to ensure the smooth running of each project
  • Support project managers in all the problems encountered to enable them to provide strong leadership after the other stakeholders
  • Ensure the progress of projects and compliance with deadlines
  • Be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the budgets of the projects he manages
  • Ensure that monthly billing approvals are completed within the requested timeframes so that payment requests are produced within the required timeframes
  • Manage the site teams in collaboration with the project manager
  • Give clear instructions to professionals and ensure that they respect the project guidelines (technical and budgetary) during on-site coordination
  • Prepare overall project deadlines in collaboration with the project manager
  • Be responsible for periodic follow-up with project managers and ensure that each step is carried out.
  • Supervise and supervise the project manager in terms of technical and organizational advice
  • Ensure, in collaboration with the project manager, that the end-of-site documents are correctly completed and submitted.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in construction project management
  • Experience in managing heavy residential construction projects is highly desirable
  • Experience in design-build and design management is a major asset
  • Master the construction and safety codes in force as well as current construction techniques in Quebec.
  • Advanced level in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Frequent travel to construction sites
  • Be flexible
  • Be versatile and have an excellent analytical mind
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Rigor, sense of planning, organization and autonomy
  • Good team management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain harmonious relationships
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Procore and Microsoft suite
